Pyridostigmine availability
I take 180 mg of pyridostigmine ER twice daily, but lately I've had trouble finding a pharmacy that has it. They all tell me that they can't get it from the manufacturer. So I have two questions. First, is this a local problem or is everyone having it? Second, is the problem only for the extended release form, or is it a problem for both forms?
I ordered mine from Amazon pharmacy. They send them fast and they charge your insurance and if they have it at a lesser price that's what you pay
Even OptumRx, a nation-wide mail-order pharmacy, can't get it. My neurologist has me on two 60 mg tablets of the faster release form three times a day. I still get the same total dosage, but it's not as smoothly spread out. I'm doing OK with it, but I prefer the ER version.
I did. Until the RR form is available we're making do with two 60 mg tablets of the rapid release form three times a day. That gives me the same daily dosage spread out over the day. It works but not as well as the extended release.

Turns out OptumRx is out of stock after all. I just got that notification. So now I'm making do with some 60 mg fast release that I happened to have. But I'll run out of that this weekend. At that point I don't know what I'll do.
Since OptumRx serves the whole country, this must be a widespread problem. And given Jazmin's comment, it is not an isolated problem. Why does the manufacturer allow this to happen? And does anyone know when the supply will be renewed?

Yes that happened to me as well back in October after I left the hospital. I was prescribed Mestinon 180mg and the pharmacy had a hard time getting it as well. I took an extra few days for it to get to me. I live in Oklahoma. - Jazmin (MG member)
