Out of Remission: Adding a Second Azathioprine

My MG had been in remission for ten plus years. It was under control due to Azathioprine (50 mg) yet it fell out of remission.

After a few months of a falling head (still is) I convinced my doctor to add a second 50 mg of Azathioprine. She was hesitant due to concerns about the effect on my liver. With the assumption that it might take four to six months to return to remission (if at all), I will have regular blood draws.

Any comment or reflection is welcome, especially with the potential to my liver. I will report on my status: good results or not; especially lab results.

Adding the second 50 mg about a month ago I do notice a little improvement with my talking, tongue, and mouth in general. My doctor also asked that I meet with a physical therapist–one who understands MG–for some simple neck exercises.

Only time will tell.
