Heat/Sweat

Dear friends,
Before I ever even had one symptom of MG that I knew of I started having a problem. I would be at work and if I got the slightest bit warm I would begin to sweat mostly from my foreheads. After a while this developed into an anxiety issue. Eventually I let it go long enough to where I experienced small panic attacks and serious social withdrawal. It was very traumatic. Things got so bad that I eventually quit my full time job and after a year new symptoms arrived. Extreme fatigue started happening and I just assumed that it was from mental stress, but then I started seeing double vision when looking left. I then I began looking for answers and thankfully ended up seeing a neuro ophthalmologist. He ran blood test and said everything looked normal. When I kept complaining, to his credit, he ran them again and I was positive for MG. I have other symptoms but for the most part my struggle is optical. But I still battle sweating and heat tolerance, does anyone else struggle with this? Was my head and face sweating an early sign of MG? I would love to hear from others about their symptoms and how they manage them. Thank you friends, and I wish you all the best.

  1. Hi there, thanks for posting this discussion thread. Many people with MG find that heat and hot weather are triggers! While other community members may jump in to share their personal experiences with heat/sweat, here are a few articles you might find helpful: https://myasthenia-gravis.com/living/heat, https://myasthenia-gravis.com/living/summer-heat-tips, and https://myasthenia-gravis.com/living/temperature-sensitivities. I also wanted to share a thread from our Facebook page where community members discussed how temperature affects their MG: https://www.facebook.com/MyastheniaGravisHU/posts/pfbid02gMKeQbmR2vsrzFpQoZc7u1kKRw7DoMw9wRX4N6HTtZfNsiqSNEctfVx6UGfCoN6wl
