How to get more rest

Does anyone have advice or tips on getting more rest.
If I take a nap in afternoon it is really difficult to sleep that night.
Not sure what I shopuld do ?

  1. Hello I'm sorry you are having a difficult time getting rest.

I suggest looking into your medications to see if any of them may be the cause. Sometimes we can't get rest due to stress, medication, a restless mind... the list can go on. If you can't nap during the day. I would personally try to doing active rest. which would consist of doing a quiet activity that doesn't use a lot of energy. I usually have 2 "quiet time" periods during the day. One as soon as I wake up, I need quiet time to prepare for the day. The 2nd time is normally after lunch (for me).

This week I have been having really bad sleep insomnia. I can go to sleep around 10pm no problem but1 I don't sleep long. I've been getting around 2 - 3 hours of sleep a night for the past week. I recently started a new medication, so I am going to message my neuro about it. Week 1: 50mg daily. Week 2: 100mg daily. Week 3: 150mg daily (currently) Since, I'm at my max rate I wonder if that has something to do with my sleeping problems.

Please keep us updated on what methods you chose and I hope you are able to get the rest you so desire and need soon. - Jazmin (MG team member)

    1. Hi I hear you. Taking afternoon naps, more than not, seems to mess up my nightly sleep schedule! Hopefully others in our community will chime in with any tips/trick they have for quality rest. As we all know how important quality rest is, but unfortunately it can be challenging. I included an article on the topic here - https://myasthenia-gravis.com/rest. Wishing you well.
