Eyepatch Usage

I'm fairly new to living with MG (it's been about three months since my diagnosis) and I was curious if others with double vision also find eyepatches to be helpful.
I've found that regular use of the patch helps with double vision even after I take the patch off, to the point where I can usually keep it off most of the weekend before going back to it sunday night. Driving with the patch is so much easier too! I wear it often enough that I even invested in a nice leather patch with a buckle and adjustable strap.
I'm interested to know what other people's experiences with patches have been, and how long it may have taken you to try one.

  1. Rooster Whale - I never wore an eye patch, but I did consider it. I just closed one eye instead. I didn't drive at all during that time. Thankfully, the double vision only lasted a couple months.

That said, I'm sure an eye patch would have been helpful, but I was too stubborn to try. I hope it's helping you. Do you have other questions? Best wishes! - Janice (Myasthenia-Gravis.com site moderator)

    1. I hated trying to tape or cover my eye, though I still read with one closed if my vision doubles at night. I found a weighted eye mask for sleeping keeps away most of my eye symptoms.

      1. I had double vision, too. I thought about an eye patch, but never tried one, I just closed one eye.

I'm glad you have found a way to help yourself. Hopefully, the double vision will eventually resolve. How are you doing otherwise? Best wishes! - Janice (Myasthenia-Gravis.com site moderator)
