Medicare supplements/disability

Hello!

I will soon be eligible for Medicare for disability. I am fortunate to live in a state where I can purchase supplemental plans under age 65.

I expect to get Medicare A and purchase B, D, and a comprehensive supplement. Is this the way?

Since infusions are usually considered medical (part B) and not prescription drugs, do I really need a Plan D?

Is it possible infusions would move to a prescription drug and then necessitate a plan D?

I find Good RX and such gets me better prices on my other MG medications than insurance anyway.

Do I also need a supplement or is part B enough to cover costly infusions? Should I get the supplement just in case?

Thanks so much for your insight!
Jenn

  1. Jenn, I would have to agree with Deborah Vick about talking with Medicare directly about your personal coverage... Not all Medicare is the same for everyone. I am including a link that hopefully is helpful. It has a lot of resources different, including for Medicare. New insurance can be scarry stuff.... Especially with a health condition and getting older. Hugs to you& I hope everything goes well for you!! Sally Farrier... 1. These are great questions! I don’t YET have an answer for you. However, I will do some looking around and get back to you. In the meantime, have you spoken with anybody at Medicare? Possibly an intake provider and/or your medical care team? Often they are aware of what is/isn’t covered under these plans. You also may want to consider where you receive the infusions as that might alter your plans as well. (Ie an infusion center verses home infusions) - Team member Deborah
