Sleep Disturbance

Not sure if many with MG have this or not but was wondering if sleep disturbances are common with MG. I am having a terrible time falling and then staying asleep. Not sure if it is the medication or the MG.

  1. Hi I used to have problems with my sleeping patterns as well. I too have a difficult time falling or staying asleep. It can be MG and medication. If your taking steroids that can be a result of your sleeping problems as well. I take my prednison first thing in the morning. But at night I use the aid of melatonin. It's the only thing that seems to help me fall asleep. I hope you're able to get proper rest soon. - Jazmin (team member)

    1. Thank you. It's been about a month now. Have you been able to get proper rest? - Jazmin (team member)

    2. I have been trying an over the counter sleep aid (not melatonin) and it helps somedays. Other days it does not. On the days it does help, I am able to get a good nights rest. Thank you for checking in, I am grateful.

  2. Sam5... Sleeping can be a problem!! I have sleep apnea along with MG. I had to ask my Dr. about a sleep study because of not sleeping and being tired all the time. I do use a cpap machine and we get along fine even with the MG. Mine is set to self-regulate according to the presser I need at the time. Unfortunate it is on the recall list & then started giving off a gas Odor so I cannot use it until I get my new one. So, for now I have a small fan & some extra pillows that do help. Hope you can find out what is going on and get some sleep!! Sally Farrier... (Masthenia-Gravis.com team member). 1. Thank you for responding. I am finding that the MG process is an interesting one to say the least. Each day is different but I guess it could be a lot worse so I am blessed to have a good doctor and support group. Stay well.

  3. Kaitlyn: Thank you so much for the information, I really appreciate it.
