Still no remission 10 months after thymectomy.

I was told that remission wasn't guaranteed after thymectomy. But I'm still disappointed. I'm restarting IVIG and still battling Mestinon side effects. Does anyone have any encouraging words?

  1. Thank you very much. Your reply was encouraging.

    1. Hello I'm sorry that you are still experiencing symptoms after your thymectomy. I had my thymectomy in 2021 and right now I'm still on reduced medication. Before I was taking 50mg of prednisone, 120mg of mestinon 3x a day and IVIG every 4 weeks. Now I'm on 10mg of prednisone, 60mg of mestinon 3x a day and I received my first dose of IVIG this year last week. Its been 2 years since I had my surgery and sometimes the waiting game is very hard but I do see the positivity from the surgery. I was constantly going to the hospital due to a flair or MG crisis. Last week was my first flair up in over a year and to me that's a win. Even if you might not be in full remission it's good to celebrate your small victories and be encouraged/hopeful that you are in the process of reaching full remission. Best wishes to you. - Jazmin (MG team member)
