What is the “I choke on everything diet?”

I read about a member being on this diet. My jaw gets tired easily when eating and it isn’t just when I chew steak. I’m interested in eating foods on this diet or list of foods.

  1. CommunityMember4242690, I choke on everything, but I have never heard of an" I choke on everything diet." But I like that name!!! Kinda like MG we are all different of what we can eat/chew/ swallow. I get the jaw gets tired easily when eating and it isn’t just when I chew steak. I personally have been having more trouble with this as well as jaw gets tired easily when eating and it isn’t just when I chew steak. I personally have been having more problems with jaw gets tired easily and choking on food /liquid when swallowing in the last few months. Have you ever been evaluated by a speech pathologist & had a modified swallow study done to help address some of this. I personally use a soft diet during these times. But I just take my regular food and puree it like baby food. Then there is no chew factor to it I can eat a little more before getting too tired to eat jaw/throat wise. This has served me well for years. But not sure this is going to work for me much longer. So, I will be talking to my DR. this week about it. And that is a whole other problem that needs addressed with a Dr. Hugs & best Wishes!! ❄️Sally Farrier...Myasthenia-Gravis.com (team member).

    1. I wAs evaluated by a speech therapist when I was diagnosed and I have discussed it with my neurologist. Thanks for your comments.

  2. Hi , hopefully any other members will chime in with their experience on this diet. Have you had a moment to speak with your physician about what dietary changes could be helpful for you? Are you experiencing difficulty with swallowing? I know some of our community members develop difficulty with swallowing called dysphagia. I included two articles on the topic, which also has some tips for eating - https://myasthenia-gravis.com/living/diet-for-dysphagia. and https://myasthenia-gravis.com/living/swallowing-safety. I hope these articles are helpful. Wishing you well. -Jessica, Team Member
