Financial Assistance Available Through The National Organization for Rare Diseases

NORD is a non-profit organization. This is from their website.

"We provide patient assistance programs to help individuals living with rare diseases:

Obtain medication
Receive financial help with insurance premiums and co-pays
Get diagnostic testing assistance
Receive travel assistance for clinical trials or consultation with disease specialists
Provide caregiver respite
Offer support during emergencies
Gain knowledge about rare diseases
Connect with other patient assistance programs"

I haven't applied yet myself. There are probably income qualifications but if you are in need of help this looks like a great resource. My understanding is that they will provide up to $20,000 in financial aid.

  1. Hi , thank you so much for sharing this information with us! We appreciate it. How have you been managing this week? I hope it has been kind. Wishing you a lovely weekend. -Jessica, MG Team Member

    1. Thank you. I am managing well for now. The link for NORD is https://rarediseases.org/ It is probably just easier to google NORD though. From my understanding, you can apply online or over the phone for assistance. I know some treatments can be very expensive not to mention ICU care during a crisis. Currently my insurance is keeping up with most of my expenses, but if I lose my job due to MG, I will be reaching out to NORD for assistance.
