MG Flare Treatment

My wife suffered an MG Flare one month ago. She went to the hospital and received IVIG. She came home for one week and went back in for plasmapheresis. Today she will start ULTOMIRIS infusions. She is taking 90 mg of Pyridostigmine and 40 mg of prednisone. Has anyone gone through all of this treatment with positive results?

  1. Based on my reading through M-G.com and its volume of experiences, and due to how quickly your wife is getting treatments, it sounds like she is in good hands to say the least. The Pyridostigmine is a good start, especially with the Prednizone 'kicker' which is also an indication your wife's doctor is a good one to have. Again, its is amazing as to how fast your wife's treatment is happening! 😀 Also, as Jodi has offered, much of what is taking place for your wife is, and while not really experimental, without enough time and testimonials.

    1. The Ultomiris (ravulizumab-cwvz) risk evaluation and mitigation strategy (REMS) was approved on December 21, 2018. However, the most recent REMS modification was approved on April 27, 2022. July 22, 2022, was the official approval letter by the FDA. Because this still hasn't been a year, we have yet to receive many reports and stories from people sharing their experiences with it. Hopefully, this will become a popular discussion topic soon. https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/results/NCT03920293 here is a link with the clinical trial results for Ultomirirs.
