Mycophenolate is an immunosuppressant similar to the azathioprine taken regularly by many MG patients. It reduces the production of all anti-bodies, including the bad one. It's a non-steroidal, low cost first line defense and usually tried before the expensive new meds like Vyvgart. But because an immunosuppressant takes several months to work, Vyvgart is sometimes used as a stop-gap med to suppress your symptoms until AZA starts to work. Once it starts working, prednisone and pyridostigmine can usually be tapered down.
