What can we really do when we need to take antibiotics? Help, help.

I have a Uti ,I'm so sick. What to one dr they gave me prescription not the list but it made me sick. I think maybe it is I am sick of dr. We went to pick up a different prescription and it is on the list. They have the list. I'm wondering if there is a simpler list for what we can have. The new prescription is called erythromycin. What can I do? .please help

  1. I am so thankful for reply Jodi. I'm trying to figure out how to get to this and copy. I see the dr today. Maybe my husband can figure it out.

    1. Let me know if you were able to figure it out, and I would love to hear how your doctor's appointment went 😀

  2. "Macrolide antibiotics (e.g., erythromycin, azithromycin, clarithromycin): commonly prescribed antibiotics for gram-positive bacterial infections. It may worsen MG. Use cautiously, if at all" (https://myasthenia.org/Portals/0/Cautionary%20Drugs.pdf). "ANTI-INFECTIVES such as antibiotics or antimicrobial agents are used to treat infections and may worsen myasthenia gravis symptoms. Often this occurs within 1 to 2 days of starting the anti-infective medication. A few classes of antibiotics that have been associated with MG flare-up are aminoglycosides, fluoroquinolones, and macrolides" (https://nebula.wsimg.com/903ebe2c701eb4e72e3211dc9fb9064e?AccessKeyId=7F50FBE19A111D19DDAC&disposition=0&alloworigin=1).

All patients with MG react differently, so it is unpredictable how you or anyone with MG would respond to it. As far as a list of what is ok with MG, I don't know if that exists, as I've yet to come across one. I like this warned-against list best because it has five levels of risk that can help give direction for the best option if what you are trying to treat is to the degree it needs treatment: https://nebula.wsimg.com/903ebe2c701eb4e72e3211dc9fb9064e?AccessKeyId=7F50FBE19A111D19DDAC&disposition=0&alloworigin=1.
