I've bee n prescribed CellCept

Anyone out there using cellcept now who can give me some information, etc??? Reading about all the possible side effects is lots of fun, if you know what I mean!
Thank you,
Lou

  1. I've been taking generic Cellcept (Mycophenelate Moefitil), 500 mg, twice a day, for about six months now. The only side effects I've experienced were mild dizziness for a few hours after a dose. This lasted maybe a week, now no Ill effects at all. The warnings that accompany it are scary, but my dose is mild, transplant recipients take a higher dose, so I'm guessing that's where side effects are more likely.

    1. Thank you for taking the time to respond

      1. Hello I used to take mycophenolate 4 years ago. I would say it helped when combined with other meds. For instance, I was taking mycophenolate, prednisone, mestinon and IVIG courses (every 3 months). It's hard to pin point which side effect went to which meds considering there's so many.

You can also ask your pharmacist to go over the medication before you take it. Like, the possible side effects and whether or not it should be taken with food.

The only side effect that I can say was most profound was the effect it has on your reproductive system. I'm no doctor so I cant say exactly what it does in great details. But from personal experience I had 3 miscarriage's while on that medication. When I got pregnant with my son (successful pregnancy) I found out at 8 weeks I was pregnant and stopped the medication cold turkey. I also dont recommend stopping any medication abruptly; Doing that caused a flair up but I also saved my child's life. I would NOT recommend if trying to have children whether you're male or female. - Jazmin (team member)
