Juvenile MG recently diagnosed

My 10 year old daughter was diagnosed on October 31 2023. (As she says. A Halloween to remember). My husband and I are overwhelmed by how many symptoms she has and how fast it seemed to have come on. Is anyone else out there dealing with a child that has been diagnosed. She had her first IVIG in the hospital and she is now on mestanon. We are still waiting for more information from Mayo Clinic. Luckily we were in the right place at a childrens hospital where there was a pediatric neurologist that diagnosed her quickly. Any kind words of support due to experience will be kindly welcomed.

  1. My heart goes out to you and your family. Your daughter is very strong indeed and yes this is her "Halloween to remember." I got diagnosed with MG when I was 17 a month after I graduated high school. I also felt like my symptoms came on pretty strong and all at once. I'm so happy she is getting the proper treatment. If she's getting IVIG I recommend a lot of water. I get IVIG treatments as well with hydration because the medication is so thick and strong it can cause server headaches. Your daughter will definitely need your support and grace. We welcome her to the community and please let her know that she's not alone in this new journey/life. -Jazmin (MG team member)
