Mg and asthma

I have been treated since2001 for Mg. Briefly prior to that they said I had asthma. Mg was diagnosed and asthma treatment discontinued. I had chest infection over Xmas and was told I was asthmatic but mg also played up. I have now been properly tested for asthma using spirometry etc and told it is not present. My problem is that the reliever inhalers really help when mg causes breathing to be difficult and tight. Has anyone else experienced this?

  1. I have not been formally diagnosed, but I have many of the symptoms. I do have asthma and oddly the Albuterol actually helps with the muscle pain right near the point of the diaphragm. If I use it the pain diminishes and don't last as long.I have been living with some kind of issue be it mental or physical for a long time. It gets to be a hell of drag. Done bitching for now.

    1. Back pain mostly right about the level of the diaphragm under and around rhomboid muscles. I also seem to be aspirating liquids from time to time and the bit about your head feeling heavy rang a bell. I have had a 3 level fusion in my neck so that is probably not helping. I find if my wife just presses on the sore bit that seems to help. Massage has been quite helpful as well. Also losing a significant amount of weight. I think maybe getting old is not for sissies as my Ma used to say.

    2. If you are interested in getting a proper MG diagnosis, blood tests to look for the characteristic antibodies:
      "Acetylcholine receptor (AChR)
      Muscle-specific tyrosine kinase (MuSK)
      Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 4 (LRP4)
Around 8 out of 10 people with MG will have AChR antibodies in their blood. Only 1 out of 10 will have the MuSK antibodies, and even fewer will have LRP4 antibodies.
Roughly 6 out of every 100 people with MG will have seronegative myasthenia gravis, meaning they have none of the common antibodies", https://myasthenia-gravis.com/blood-tests, is the first start. https://myasthenia-gravis.com/diagnosis

Even if your symptoms are mild and not to the point you would want treatment yet, a diagnosis of MG is essential because if you do have it, many drugs and medicines, http://nebula.wsimg.com/903ebe2c701eb4e72e3211dc9fb9064e?AccessKeyId=7F50FBE19A111D19DDAC&disposition=0&alloworigin=1, can worsen symptoms or lead to an MG crisis, https://myasthenia-gravis.com/crisis.
