Newly diagnosed.

One day in mid August my daughter stopped by where I was working and noticed my eye was drooping. I made an appointment with my eye doctor for the following week. After a thorough exam she felt pretty sure it was MG. I met with my PCP the next day he agreed with the MG diagnosis. His exam found that my facial, neck and arm muscles on my right side were weak. A brain MRI was done to rule out a stroke or aneurysm and possibly a brain tumor. With the exception of a few hyper intensities the scan was normal. Most of my blood work was normal with the exception of the antibody test which which came back at .93. I do have an appointment with a neurologist in 3 weeks.

  1. Those were the same symtoms i had. My neuologist sent me to a Neurophysiology Lab The name of the test was EMG , but they had put two long needles one below my right eye and one above. ( that was the eye that was drooping)That did give me a positive diagnois of MG. I have ocular MG and MUSK
    Good LUCK

      1. The wait is frustrating not knowing if it’s anything to worry about or not. I finally sent him a message last night hoping he will respond today or tomorrow.

        1. , Yes that waiting can be frustrating!! All kinds of thoughts run though our heads. Seem like, at least for me, I focus on the worst case scenario until I hear different. At the same time as trying to stay calm and hoping that everything is going to be ok. Hoping for the best for you!! Sally team member.

      2. The appointment went well. The Dr. confirmed what everyone suspected that it MG. I started on the Pyridostigmine two weeks ago and so far haven’t really noticed any improvement. Next up is a CT scan of my chest on 11/15. Thank you for reaching out.

        1. I am glad to hear no tumor of the thymus, But sorry to hear that 6 nodules were found!! How are you doing with the waiting to hear from your PCP? Hoping for the best for you!! Sally team member.

        2. Apparently the long nodules are relatively common. PCP says at this point they are to small to do a biopsy. He says to wait one year and do another scan. If they increase in size they’ll do a biopsy then.
