it started out of the blue

Has anyone else just suddenly experienced a sensation that one of their hands had been disconnected or somehow unplugged? While the other hand started trembling? I was in an Ulta store when this happened had I not had my thumb around my phone I would have dropped it.

The episode lasted about 5 minutes before everything resumed normal programming.

  1. My experience was also out of the blue. All of a sudden, I couldn't eat or drink because I had no control of my mouth, jaw, or tongue. I had slurred speech, so I was taken to the hospital assuming a stroke. It was later diagnosed as Myasthenia Gravis. Spent 7 nights in the hospital getting it under control.

    1. Hi and yes. Very interesting. I had this happen to me twice about 15 years apart Both times I thought I was having a stroke and was taken by ambulance. No signs of a stoke or TMI. The first time I had been working at a show in Boston and went to grab a paper towel when I lost feeling in my arm and hand and it was pulling on its own. It was like your arm fell asleep instantly. People helped me to the floor and I was brought to Boston Medical. I felt fine by the time I got there but had a fever of 103 on arrival which was gone by the time I left. No explanation. I was not sick before or after.
The second time happened at home with the same feeling. I think the trembling, which I too had, was caused by the shock. They thought the fever was from that too.

      1. It is very odd occurrence that I hope neither of us must experience or endure on a regular basis.

      2. It's quite scary but as I mentioned it was about 15 years apart. I actually had slurred speech the first time it happened and my entire body was shaking. Just one of those weird things that we go through. At least you will know what is going on the next time but I would recommend you call for help as you don't want to mistake this for something worse. Better to get checked out. I was going to drive myself to the hospital the second time as it is less than a mile from my house but then I figured what if something happened on the way.

    2. While I haven't heard that specifically, there are many symptoms that result from stress (trying to use stubborn nerve/muscle connections) that are not "clinically" MG but often occur. Jazmin is right about taking it easy as well. Juliana (myasthenia-gravis.com team)

      1. I've havent experienced that exactly but I do have days when I cant grip/hold anything. It's weird. I'll go to grab something and it'll just fall out of my hands. Like you said, your hand feels disconnected. Sometimes my hands shake but that happens when I forget to take my meds.

Completely off topic but sometimes my eyes twitch really bad followed a sensation of pins and needles are being poked in them.

It happens at the most random time.
