Unprofessional/rude healthcare professionals

I had a neurologist appointment today with a new neurologist I'd not met before and it was such a bad appointment. I'm the kind of person (and I also advocate my patients to do the same) to ask a lot of questions to understand their condition and the plan going forward. This neurologist seemed to get defensive as soon as I started asking questions. I've been on pyridostigmine for nearly 4 months now and it's made a significant positive difference to my life. He told me today that he needs more 'proof' that I have MG , e.g positive achr or musk and would refuse to tell me whether he'll continue to prescribe me pyridostigmine or not despite the massive improvement in my symptoms on it. He made unprofessional comments throughout and made a point of telling me how much of his time I'd used up. Feeling really low now

  1. Honolulu, I am so sorry you were treated that way. Not uncommon for us that are seronegative unfortually even from prestigious MG Dr.'s, they all want us to fit in the box for their check list. We Don't but we still have MG.... Hoping you can find a better neurologist!! Hugs!! Sally Farrier...Myasthenia-Gravis.com (team member). Here is a link to a online seronegative support group, from the MGFA.

    1. I am truly sorry to hear you had this experience. I can imagine how deflating the experience must have been. Unfortunately, not all physicians have the best "bed side" manner or get it. I hope you know our community gets it and we are here for you. Is there another neurologist you can schedule an appointment with? I hope you have found a way to recover from this unfortunate appointment. Sending hugs. -Jessica, MG Team Member
