Does anyone else in your immediate family have MG?

After a five-year struggle, I was finally diagnosed in 2018 as Seronagative. My journey through a long list of unexplained symptoms help me spot the same issues in my father and led me to press for a neurology referral on his behalf.

Although he just tested positive for Generalized MG, at the age of 85 he has gone undiagnosed and untreated for so many years that any improvement from the Mestinon will be minimal. His muscle deconditioning and other health issues are too substantial.

While I know this illness is not hereditary, I'm curious if anyone else also has other immediate family members with MG and what led to that determination?

  1. Hi hopefully others will weigh in if they have any immediate family members with MG. In the meantime, I shared an article on MG and genetics, just in case you may be interested - https://myasthenia-gravis.com/clinical/genetics. Wishing you well. -Jessica, Team Member
