No diplopia, will meds improve eye movement when reading?

Do you guys think that this is worth treating?

I'm very suspicious that I have ocular mg. I am positive for multiple physical signs including the ice test, cogan's lid which, and upward gaze. I don't have double vision, and the ptosis that I have is very minor and I've had it for years. My main complaint is reading. It used to be very automatic for me to read, but now I have to pay very close attention to how I'm moving my eyes that I don't lose my spot. I suspect that mg is the culprit here, but I don't even know if treatment would affect this minute muscle movement? Usually when people are treating this disease, they're aiming to fix overarching and more obvious problems such as muscle weakness, and double vision. Would treatment even really do anything here?

  1. I had 5 yrs of feeling like eyes jerked to left when reading then severe pain couldn't keep eyes open. couldn't tell 3,6,8 apart or read highway signs but didn't have double vision. Had to stop reading, couldn't write much as even a glance at screen was agony. Also had lots of generalized symptoms.22 mos ago got mestinon and much better most days . So hard to lose so much of my life for so long

    1. I'll just "ditto" Jazmin's advice. MG is a complex condition. It is really not possible to diagnose yourself, and yes, if it is a muscle issue it can get worse. Go to an MD eye doctor, not a technician, and get a thorough exam with blood tests. The double vision that is common in ocular MG is very unique and a trained eye doctor will be able to track it down. And yes, keep the community posted. Juliana (team member)

      1. hello , thank you for sharing your question and concern. My question to you is have you gone to a doctor to get a proper diagnosis? Your doctor or the doctor that you see can give more information on the disease and how sever it can be. Your doctor will/should go over and recommend different treatment options for you but it's ultimately your choice whether you decide to go forth with the treatment or not. Keep in mind that MG is a progression disease and can get worse over time when untreated. I hope this information was helpful to you and keep us posted on your decision. Best of luck. - Jazmin (team member)
