Have you experienced adverse gastrointestinal problems/side effects from using Mestinon (Pyridostigmine)?

I was just given a definite diagnosis of Mg. I am on Mestinon 3 times a day (30mg) taking it in the morning gives me a terrible stomach cramp an then diarrhea, after it passes then I feel better. I went to 1 pill a day, was better taking at lunch. But on Dr. diagnosing me, put me back on 3 pills a day. So he gave me a pill to help with the stomach cramp, but still have the diarrhea. I also have a lot of trouble with Antacid reflex issues. So with this doesn't help. I have tried to make sure I eat something when taking my medicine. Any other ideas.

I'm really sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Dealing with stomach cramps and diarrhea from your medication sounds really tough. It's great that you're trying different things like changing when you take your pills and making sure you eat with them.
Have you talked to your doctor about these side effects? Sometimes there are other medications or changes that can help. Also, trying gentle exercises like calisthenics or Mallakhamb might make you feel better. Moving around can help with digestion and how you feel overall.
Remember, it's okay to take your time with all of this. Getting used to new medicine can be hard, but you're doing great. If you ever need to talk or want more ideas, I'm here to help.

Yes! Severe diarrhea and stomach cramps. I was afraid to leave home. I managed for about a month, then after calling my neurologist I went off of it. It wasn't really helping me anyway. A small improvement with my eyelids, but nothing else.

Yes! Things that help me are taking Lactaid with each dose and taking it with food. I also use Imodium in the morning and carry it always. I still deal with diarrhea several times a week but Mestinon is helping so I’ll take the good with the bad. I did have stomach pain at the beginning when I started but that went away.
