Tremors and Myasthenia Gravis

Has anyone here started experiencing tremors since their MG symptoms began? If so, where are you feeling them, and how severe are they? Do the tremors coincide with any other of your MG symptoms? Are there other neurological symptoms accompanying the tremors, such as tingling, numbness, or sensations of pins and needles?

Tremors can transpire as a treatment side-effect, secondary symptom, or in conjunction with other conditions. It’s always best to consult your primary healthcare provider and MG specialist about these experiences as soon as you notice any unusual tremors, numbness, or tingling.

  1. I get hand tremors and sometimes feelings in my body that feel like I just drank 1 gallon of coffee for lack of a better way to describe. They vary in strength. I was advised that one medication for MG, Mycophenolate Mofeteil could be implicated and was advised to stop taking it for 2 weeks on basis that it would take longer than that to clear re: MG, but I should see a change in tremors within that time. I did not see a change and resumed the medication.

    1. I went to a doctor who specializes in movement disorders. She says that the tacrolimus I'm on as an immunosuppressant can cause tremors in up to 70%of patients.

      1. Jodi, I have had hand tremors daily since my MG began, which was at some unspecified point in the past. Since I didn’t know my rash of falls might have been attributable to MG, I did’t realize I should start tracking my falls. It’s certainly possible that both sets of symptoms were related—(and that they commenced at about the same time) I just don’t have a definite time line.

        1. I sure do, Jodi. I fill the pill box, wrap the packages, fill the bird feeder and do everything that requires fine motor skills in the morning. I unload the dish washer and do the laundry at noon. In the evening, I pet the cat. She doesn't worry about my shaky hands, and neither should I.
