One Year Later: Surviving a Severe Myasthenia Gravis Crisis

One year ago today, I was finally released from the hospital after an almost three-month stay due to a severe Myasthenia Gravis (MG) crisis.

The crisis was devastating: I couldn't walk, talk, breathe, or swallow. I was intubated, required a feeding tube, and was in a coma for seven days. My wife was even advised to prepare for the worst.

By the grace of God and the dedication of great doctors, I survived.

Road to recovery

I am now about 90% recovered. My current maintenance medications include 10 mg of Prednisone and 1000 mg of CellCept.

I still navigate the daily challenges of this disease, including an uneven gait, using a cane, and managing the normal fatigue associated with MG. I am currently unsure if any other treatment is needed or recommended.

After a year of living with a disease I had never even heard of, I feel incredibly lucky and thankful to be where I am today.
