Remission

Has anybody ever heard of a complete remission with all medication being stopped (even Mestinon)
and neuroligist confirming that no trace of MG being reported

  1. What about diet

  2. I was diagnosed wit MG in 1993 at 41 and put on Mestinon. I was advised to have a thymectomy and had one 3 months later and continued on steroids for about a year and was tested and told I was in remission. I am now 73 and symptom free for 32 years.

  3. My wife, now age 83, was diagnosed MG at age 23. At age 43, her neurologist sent her to Mayo Clinic to see if she was a candidate for a thymectomy. After 3 days of in depth testing, the Mayo staff declared her to be in remission. She stayed in remission for almost three years, then symptoms returned . During that time she completed graduate school and became the first executive director of our local Hospice. She held that position for nine years until the weakness was too severe to work full time. Still at this time, she is resilient each day. By pacing ourselves, we enjoy life with our two adult children, five grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren + our church friends. We sometimes miss events, but always schedule the next time to do something special.

  4. I was diagnosed wit MG in 2009 and put on Mestinon. A year later I went into remission for a few short months. I contracted an infection in my gallbladder, which was severe enough that my surgeons considered surgery a life risk. I rode it out with massive doses of antibiotics. Result - surgery to remove the dead gallbladder. The result was resurgence of the MG. I also added steroids and another MG specific drug (cellcept now). I now enjoy many of the vicissitudes of. MG. Unpredictable fatigue is just one of them. I am grateful to the LORD God above that I am considered to have a light case.
