My wife, now age 83, was diagnosed MG at age 23. At age 43, her neurologist sent her to Mayo Clinic to see if she was a candidate for a thymectomy. After 3 days of in depth testing, the Mayo staff declared her to be in remission. She stayed in remission for almost three years, then symptoms returned . During that time she completed graduate school and became the first executive director of our local Hospice. She held that position for nine years until the weakness was too severe to work full time. Still at this time, she is resilient each day. By pacing ourselves, we enjoy life with our two adult children, five grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren + our church friends. We sometimes miss events, but always schedule the next time to do something special.
