MG After Crisis: Managing the Triggers of an Unpredictable Diagnosis

My health challenges began after receiving the Moderna vaccine and one booster. In May 2023, I underwent neurosurgery to treat a serious bacterial infection in my spinal column, the cause of which remains unknown. Compounding these physical setbacks was a tremendous amount of personal stress that lasted until April 2024 with a relative's passing.

The myasthenia gravis onset

Following this period of intense physical and emotional strain, I woke up one day with blurry vision and a drooping left eyelid. Kaiser immediately sent me to the emergency room, and after a battery of tests over a week, I received my diagnosis: Myasthenia Gravis (MG).

Fortunately, my MG is currently localized to my eye and throat. However, the disease's unpredictable nature became frighteningly clear in October. A combination of a severe cold and an allergy attack led to a breathing crisis, which resulted in a hospital stay. I almost lost consciousness during this episode.

Living with uncertainty and strong faith

At the moment, I seem to be in a remission state, but I understand that MG can return at any moment. It is difficult to live with the uncertainty of a sure return, and I now carefully ensure I immediately handle any congestion or illness that could lead to another crisis.

My faith in God is very strong, and I accept my condition in humility and obedience.
