Diagnosis

Hello everyone, I live in Toronto, Ontario (Canada) and have been struggling with my health for years now. In most cases I wait several months to a year + to see specialists. Last summer (2024) I couldn't take it anymore and traveled to a private hospital in Nigeria where I received amazing care. I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis. Blood tests for Anti-acetylcholine receptor antibody came out positive and Anti-MuSk antibody was negative. Nerve conduction studies done including repetitive nerve stimulation which revealed significant neuromuscular conduction delay in some muscles of more than 50% especially in lower limbs and left upper limb. I was also diagnosed with hypothyroidism secondary to Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I started Mestinon (Pyridostigmine) and Prednisolone and soon felt about 80% improvement. Shortly after I returned home I began to decline again. The Neurologist from Nigeria increased my dose and I then saw a Neurologist in Canada who was quick to say he didn't believe I had MG because I did not have the drooping eyes. He said I could do the blood test if I wanted to (which was not cheap). The test came out negative. I wondered if that was because I was on medication for a couple of months. Has this happened to anyone? I am now back at square one and waiting to see another neurologist.
