Syncope

Hi, Everyone! I'm so glad I found this group! I was diagnosed with MG in October 2024. My symptoms have progressed SO quickly. Most recently, I fainted following a feeling of HOT pins and needles over entire body. Anybody else experienced syncope? Or debilitating cramping, mine's mostly on my right side. What do you do to help? I'm feeling so overwhelmed.

  1. I have occasional severe foot cramps. I have no idea why.

I have fainted quite a few times. I was severely injured because I fainted and hit my back. I have also fainted and hit my head several times.

I think that my syncope is because they had me on too much blood pressure. I have lost a lot of weight, but the dosage did not decrease. My doctor lowered my dose, and I am doing much better.

    1. I can imagine how frightening it must have been to faint many times and result in such injuries. Glad to hear your doctor has changed your treatment plan and it has been helpful. Hoping you do not experience any more fainting spells. Please know we're here for you anytime. Kindly, Jessica (Team Member)

    2. I'm happy that your doctor was able to adjust your medication and you're feeling better now. Foot cramps are very common with MG. Here is a popular discussion about it that you may be interested in: https://myasthenia-gravis.com/forums/leg-and-foot-cramping-and-pain.

  3. Hi Jaclyn, welcome to the group. I have had syncope for years. My MG came on in 2023. I don’t think my syncope is related to my MG. My son has Syncope also but no MG. I take blood pressure meds but occasionally I will have a syncope episode. I also have episodes of ocular migraines. Those happen to me in high heat usually. I have had episodes while driving. MG is a conundrum for me. I take meds daily and get Vyvgart infusions weekly every other month. But I’m really struggling with breathlessness on exertion. My weakness has increased recently. With MG it seems we get one thing under control and something else takes over. However, I spent three months hospitalized in 2023 and zero time in 2024. I had a hip replaced a year ago and still haven’t been able to walk without a cane. So I just keep reminding myself that I’m not on a ventilator, I’m not restricted to a wheelchair, I can drive myself and visit with friends. I could do none of those things in 23. Good luck, don’t give up! You are in good company. Connie

    1. Thank you so much for sharing your MG journey with me! I truly appreciate your encouragement. I'm a 47 year old hair stylist in need of a partial knee replacement but, have been advised by my Neurologist that surgery is not an option until my MG symptoms are well managed. I really appreciate you telling me about your hip replacement! I'm so sorry that you're road to recovery was so difficult but, I'm grateful that you are able to do things that bring you joy again! I pray that 2025 brings you all things good! 🙏🏼💐🩷

  4. Thank you for all of the info, Jodi! I appreciate it so much! The cramping I'm experiencing is mostly on my right side. My hand and foot are the most common but, it also happens in my thigh, buttocks, calf and abdomen. I've greatly increased my water intake in hopes it would help. I'm also eating bananas daily. I've never experienced a cramp of any kind until recently. It's no joke! I'm having so many symptoms, I don't even know which to address. I started Mycophenolate and pyridostigmine following diagnosis so, I've been on it for 3 mos now. Any info is greatly appreciated! Thank you again! 🙏🏼🩷

    1. Again, I thank you SO much for sharing your knowledge with me! I will be seeing my Doctor on Jan 6th for my first 3 month follow up. I really hope she'll help me navigate through the plethora of symptoms I'll be bringing to her attention. 🙏🏼 I feel incredibly blessed to live in North Carolina at this time in my life as I've been referred to Duke Medical Center. I remain hopeful that there is effective treatment available for me because of people like you! Thank you!🙏🏼💐🩷

    2. Mycophenolate took almost 6 months to kick in. But worked great for a few months
