What is Waklert 150mg and for what purpose is it taken?

Waklert 150 mg tablets comprise armodafinil 150 mg which is a drug that induces wakefulness. Armodafinil is the R-enantiomer of modafinil and acts as a wakefulness promoting agent through the central nervous system. Waklert is prescribed for excessive daytime sleepiness resulting from narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnoea/hypopnoea syndrome (OSAHS) and chronic shift work sleep disorder (SWSD). Armodafinil is effective in addressing excessive daytime sleepiness in OSAHS, although it does not correct the underlying airway obstruction and, therefore, CPAP treatment is critical. For narcolepsy and OSAHS, the recommended dose in the Australian product information is 150 mg or 250 mg once daily in the morning while for SWSD, 150 mg is consumed an hour before starting the work shift. Armodafinil is a Schedule 4 prescription medicine. The dosage strength refers to the quantity of armodafinil in each tablet of Waklert 150 mg and, therefore, an important component of its description. These are the medical indications of the medicine and not the claims of improved performance or academic success.
