Myasthenia Gravis Crisis Survival and Hope
This is a beautiful and powerful story. Here is a grammatically corrected and slightly polished version:
My story begins 10 to 12 years ago, with my first crisis and subsequent diagnosis
My wife literally saved my life, by forcing me to visit the hospital and finding a qualified neurologist, since not all doctors know how to treat Myasthenia Gravis (MG).
During these years, I've experienced three crises requiring hospitalization. The first was not the worst experience; that distinction belongs to the last, which occurred while we were on a cruise. Thankfully, she (by that I mean my wife) made me pack some Mestinon pills. She called my doctor in Miami and made arrangements for my admission to the hospital upon our arrival in Miami. She has been by my side through these crises as well as a few flare-ups, never complaining about my illness and always making sure I maintained a positive frame of mind.
MG made me accept the fact of our mortality and appreciate the joy of having a caring family: two sons, three daughters, five granddaughters, and three grandsons—all of whom bring me happiness when we get together.
My purpose in life is simple: I want to be around long enough to see my kids and grandkids grown-up and successful in their chosen careers.
I've also become more religious, and even if I don't visit my church as often as I should, it does help me to accept my eventual end.
I'm taking better care of my health now
Exercising five days per week and visiting my doctors on a regular basis.
In conclusion, MG has opened my eyes to a better health model, made me more attentive to my family, and helped me recognize who my true friends are. So, there has been good between the crises. I truly believe I'm healthier now (physically and spiritually) than before being diagnosed, thanks to my family and doctors.
I'm going to live forever!
