Acute MG Attacks

I have recently had my first MG acute attack. It started with weakness in my hands, which don't feel attached to my arms, and I am dropping everything. Next, there is my slurred speech, which sounds like I am drunk. I am hesitant to strike up conversations. Now it is my swallowing. My doctor says that difficulty breathing will be next. I am scared. I have been taking Mestinon, but I have bad side effects. Has anyone had experience with this type of acute attack?
