Droopy eyes

Does everyone have droopy eyes with. MG?

  1. To be honest, I feel like I caught everything fairly quickly, before the disease has progressed. I have only had trouble chewing a few times and it has been a while. My concern now is stopping the disease from getting worse. Right now I can work and function well. My doctor has me on 10mg prednisone once daily and Mestinon 60mg 3 times a day. I don't have a thyoma but if getting the gland removed will prevent my condition deteriorating I am all for it. My physician (from the Mayo Clinic) seems to think that a cautious approach is best.

    1. No... not everyone but many of us do have or get at some point one or both drooping. Ocular can progress into generalized. I
do fight droopy eyes daily even with medication. I started more generalized and then droopy eyes years later. Do your eyes droop? Best wishes!! Sally Farrier...Myasthenia-Gravis.com (team member)

      1. Hi , when it comes to MG there are two main types, ocular and generalized. Ocular is the less common of the two. Everyone is different when it comes to what symptoms they experience. That being said, not everyone has droopy eyes. I included some more information on ocular MG here - https://myasthenia-gravis.com/ocular. Hope this helps! Kindly, Jessica, MG Team Member

        1. I am recently diagnosed and my primary issue is difficulty chewing. Some tougher foods would tire me out or I wouldn't be able to bite through them. I do not have a problem with droopy eyes but perhaps my disease will progress to that.

          1. ... I do hope you don't ever get droopy eyes!!! But to me that is a more of a nuisance than the problems with chewing or swallowing. What do you do when you get tired of chewing? Hugs & best wishes to you!! Sally Farrier... Myasthenia-Gravis.com (team member).
