Prednisone not for me
I was not able to take Prednisone. We tried for a year and I was so sick that my doctor weaned me off of it and told me to never let anyone put me on it again. That round, puffy face finally went away.
Here is the truth about prednisone. It saves hundreds, maybe thousands of lives every day. In many situations it is a wonder drug. During an MG crisis, in the emergency room, it is usually the first drug administered and in massive, intravenous doses. But it and all corticosteroids are terribly destructive to human bodies when used long term. Doses big enough to give you moon face are normally done as a burst followed by tapering. Small doses, 5 mg or less, are often safely administered as a regimen to people who tolerate it well. I would listen to your doctor and avoid prednisone except in an emergency.
