Quite early

I was almost 82 when I was diagnosed last fall by a brilliant neurologist who wasn’t accepting that my double vision was just old age. From that point, demonstrated further that my muscles were weakened in arms and legs. A few weeks later, now on Mestinin, strength restored, no double vision. “Acid test” some months later proved I have MG. Needed new neurologist who specializes in the field. Prescribed Mycophenolic Acid which I haven’t started yet, first because of bad cold and next because necessary weekly lab tests not easily accessible while away on vacation.
I feel well most of the time. However, I note increases in fatigue and anxiety and loss of stamina. I am also a well controlled epileptic, also a scary disease I have endured for 50 years.
So I am a walking neurologists’ feast. I walk 3,000 to 4,000 steps a day, but very slowly. New tests coming in the fall and will start muck- stuff before that. Don’t sleep well.

  1. It's wonderful that mestinon works so well for you. It did for me, too, and was the first indication I had that I would be highly responsive to MG medications. Mycophenolic can take months to begin working, so don't expect immediate results, But after a year, I didn't need Mestinon at all anymore.
