Your Azathioprine (Imuran) Side Effect Experience

Azathioprine, also known as Imuran, can cause several side effects, commonly including nausea and vomiting. Long-term usage can cause cancer and infection risk increases.

Has your Myasthenia gravis ever been treated with Imuran? What side effects did you experience?

  1. The first doctor came about in my initial ER moment. He put me on Prednizone and Azathioprine and in 4 months it was in remission; no side affects that I am aware of. That was about 12-years ago ... coming out of remission last year starting with my head falling forward (slightly and then getting full blown) and now everything is back, and more which now includes swallowing

    1. Hubby learned patience with Aza! For a couple months we saw nothing at all. A year later, it seems to be an under-the-radar life preserver. Pred is down to 5 mg, and almost remission (one bad week in two years.) Hard to realize how long it took, but it took. (Juliana--MG Team member).
